The event was attended by national and provincial authorities related to the energy area, specialists, academics, scientists, technicians, businessmen, entrepreneurs, chambers and associations related to the sector. The event addressed the opportunities in the context of the transition towards more sustainable forms of energy production, not only in the global context of climate change, but also because of the significant benefits it offers for the country's development.
Argentina is in a position to define what type of energy it can supply, for which development models, and how and where to produce huge amounts of clean energy, how to meet the growing demand for energy locally and, at the same time, decarbonize the world economy.
During his speech, Saguinetti described the province's experience from the design of the Strategic Plan, implemented by political decision of Governor Arabela Carreras, based on the extensive experience in the scientific field that Río Negro has gathered.
"The negative evolution of climate change, the complex and extreme events we see every day, and knowing that hydrogen could be one of the initiating energy vectors towards the transition to renewable and clean energies, invited us to intensify our efforts and to create the GH2 Provincial Board", said the Secretary.
Thus, by means of a timeline designed to describe the Government's action plan, Sanguinetti referred to the progress of the project from the contact with the Fraunhofer Institute, the positive feasibility study and the pilot project of an industrial plant.
He also emphasized the contact with the company Fortescue Future Industries and underlined the virtuous work between the public and private sectors. "It is very commendable that the States make efforts and improve our legal frameworks, which allow companies that want to get involved in projects to do so in a confident way," he said.
The training in occupations for those who are part of the great productive chain, the transfer of knowledge and technology, and the successful creation of the Diplomatura in Green Hydrogen, in coordination with the National University of Río Negro, were some of the points mentioned to confirm the expectation that the project represents for the whole population.
"I want to thank and celebrate this meeting at this place", said Sanguinetti and emphasized "the great work done so far with society, the provincial Legislature and the various sectors directly and indirectly involved with the project". Finally, the Secretary assured that "from the Province we worked with a draft of a possible National Hydrogen Law, which I have no doubt will be presented in the coming days in this House of all Argentines, the National Congress".
