Sanguinetti detailed from a timeline the most important developments and actions carried out in the province since 2016 to date in the development of Green Hydrogen. He explained the actions from the Industrial Revolution and the steam engine, which gave rise to modern society, through the transition to the use of hydrocarbons and the consequences linked to the increase of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gases and climate change.

The increase in population and the consequent rise in energy consumption, international conflicts and the worrying meteorological events affecting the world because of changes in the atmosphere, are some of the issues that the official pointed out as motivation to start a transition towards other energy vectors. Río Negro is being the main actor from the production of Green Hydrogen in a transformation.

"We have reached a point where it is urgent to mitigate the effects of climate change so that the atmosphere can be reconstituted and live in accordance with the environment," he said. Although he assured that the transition will not be automatic, he said that hydrogen, both in its origin and in its production, is three times superior to conventional hydrocarbons.

"Argentina is pioneering in the production of Green Hydrogen, we are learning ourselves and also the rest of the world about this type of energy; but Rio Negro, from its natural resources and the advances in territory, with the community and in the provincial legislation, today is in a highly valued place".

He pointed out the transversal work carried out in the Province towards an orderly and expected development of the industry in question. Genuine jobs, urban and territorial planning, environmental impact, human resources training, education, provincial legislation, consensus with society and coordinated work with the companies involved were some of the items addressed.

The Secretary of State also emphasized the importance of having a National Law as soon as possible to provide a legal framework and clearly regulate this activity, so that the progress achieved is not interrupted and the arrival of investments is facilitated.

"While the Governor is working with the National Government to advance the deadlines and to have an appropriate legislation, neither the province nor the companies have stopped our work in the territory”, he said. “We know that joint actions, including the role of workers, trade unions, employers and the involvement of the governments, are essential to strengthen the objectives of equality and equity", he concluded.

Governor Arabela Carreras led the event, which was attended by the local mayor, Claudio Di Tella; the provincial Minister of Labor, Jorge Stopiello; the Undersecretary of the Labor Ministry, Rina Spina; and the Undersecretary of Inclusion Policies in the Labor World of the National Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Cecilia Cross.
